| 2 | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is home to a vibrant and | ||||||
| 3 | diverse community of residents, representing cultures, | ||||||
| 4 | traditions, and faiths from around the world; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Holi, known as the "Festival of Colors", is a | ||||||
| 6 | traditional Indian holiday celebrated by millions of people in | ||||||
| 7 | India and across the global diaspora; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Holi marks the arrival of spring and symbolizes | ||||||
| 9 | renewal, unity, love, and the triumph of good over evil; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Celebrating Holi brings together families, | ||||||
| 11 | friends, and neighbors in a spirit of joy, forgiveness, and | ||||||
| 12 | community through cultural traditions that include music, | ||||||
| 13 | food, and the sharing of vibrant colors; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Indian American community has made | ||||||
| 15 | significant contributions to the cultural, economic, | ||||||
| 16 | educational, and civic life of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Recognizing cultural observances such as Holi | ||||||
| 18 | promotes cross-cultural understanding, strengthens community | ||||||
| 19 | bonds, and affirms Illinois' commitment to inclusion and | ||||||
| 20 | mutual respect; therefore, be it | ||||||

| 3 | 2026 as Holi Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, That we encourage residents to acknowledge and | ||||||
| 5 | celebrate the rich traditions and enduring contributions of | ||||||
| 6 | the Indian American community throughout our State. | ||||||
