SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Donald Lee Carson of Rock Island, who
passed away on June 7, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Donald Carson was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to
George and Helen Hartkemeyer Carson on June 8, 1937; he served
in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman for four years
and married Marlo Sellers in Morrison on January 7, 1960; and
WHEREAS, Donald Carson was employed by John Deere Plow &
Planter Works for 25 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1991;
he then worked as a contractor at various John Deere facilities
for 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Donald Carson was a member of the Marine Corps
League; he loved American history, reading, and was an avid fan
of the Chicago Cubs and wrestling; and
WHEREAS, Donald Carson is survived by his wife, Marlo; his
children and spouses, Cary and Celeste Carson, Aaron Carson,
Andrea Spainhower, and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Adam and Deana Carson;
eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his
brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Mary Carson and Jim and
Susan Carson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Donald Lee Carson, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Donald Carson as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
