SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Michael Patrick Mullen, Sr., who passed
away on September 17, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was born on June 7, 1942 in
Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. started his career as a
Certified Public Accountant in 1965; he then received his Juris
Doctor from DePaul University in Chicago and began working as a
Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of
Illinois as part of Governor Jim Thompson's "Kiddie Corps", a
group of young attorneys who helped clean up corruption in the
City of Chicago in the early 1970s; and
WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. practiced law for over 40
years and was always available to give advice to those in need;
and
WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was a diehard Chicago Cubs,
Bears, and Blackhawks fan; he enjoyed powerboats, running,
racquetball, and skiing and would take the family on ski trips
to Colorado; he had a passion for music and dancing and could
be seen hitting the town in one of his colorful Zoot Suits; and

WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was preceded in death by his
brother-in-law, Bob; and
WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. is survived by his wife,
Danusia; his 3 sons; his daughter, Marzenka (Chris); his
granddaughter, Evelyn: his sons from his former wife Mary,
Michael, Daniel, Timothy, Matthew (Michelle), and Edward; his
brothers, William and Daniel; his sisters, Kathleen, Maureen,
and Judi; and his grandchildren, Alexia, Brakell, Michael,
Matthew, Abby, James, John, William, Mack, and Guy; therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Michael Patrick Mullen, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Michael Mullen, Sr. as an expression
of our deepest sympathy.
