| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Wesley MacGruder of Grand | ||||||
| 4 | Junction, Colorado, who passed away on March 11, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder was born in Indianapolis, | ||||||
| 6 | Indiana to Robert D. and Hester (Wooden) MacGruder on June 5, | ||||||
| 7 | 1932; his family moved to Colorado in 1939; he attended the | ||||||
| 8 | University of Wyoming and enlisted in the United States Navy, | ||||||
| 9 | serving aboard the U.S.S. Stembel during the Korean War; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Before retiring, Robert MacGruder resided in | ||||||
| 11 | Waukegan; from 1959 to 1973, he was president of the Chamber of | ||||||
| 12 | Commerce in Waukegan, Belvidere, and Laverne, Minnesota; he was | ||||||
| 13 | Executive Vice President of the Lake County Contractors | ||||||
| 14 | Association from 1973 to 1996; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, During his career, Robert MacGruder received | ||||||
| 16 | numerous awards such as the Exchange Club's Golden Deeds in | ||||||
| 17 | 1976; he was active in local and state affairs with the United | ||||||
| 18 | Way, the Port Authority, the Planning Commission, the Lake | ||||||
| 19 | County Economic Development Commission, and the Waukegan Civil | ||||||
| 20 | Service Commission; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder was preceded in death by his | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | wives, JoAnn (Wheatley), Lea (Passwaters), and Marilyn | ||||||
| 2 | (Leonard); his parents; his stepfather, Roy Brown; his son, | ||||||
| 3 | Robert W. MacGruder Jr.; his son-in-law, David Nystrom; and | ||||||
| 4 | numerous close friends; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder is survived by his daughter, | ||||||
| 6 | Valorie Nystrom; his sons, Greg Ramsey and Jeff (Trina) Ramsey; | ||||||
| 7 | his sisters, Marilyn Barnewall and Dede Hunter; eight | ||||||
| 8 | grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his special friends, | ||||||
| 9 | Duane Wheatley, Wayne Brimer, Tony Vigil, and Harold (Rita) | ||||||
| 10 | Schafer; and numerous other family members and friends; | ||||||
| 11 | therefore, be it

| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 14 | Robert "Bob" Wesley MacGruder, and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 15 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 16 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to the family of Robert MacGruder as an expression of | ||||||
| 19 | our deepest sympathy.
