SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of William D. Greek of Henry, who passed
away on September 21, 2013; and
WHEREAS, William Greek was born on August 17, 1939 in
Princeton to William C. and Ardis Drake Greek; he served his
country in the United States Army; he married Nan J. Trovero on
January 1, 1983; and
WHEREAS, William Greek was involved in farming and
agri-business all of his life and served as a volunteer
firefighter in the Henry Fire Protection District for over 30
years; and
WHEREAS, William Greek was a former school board member,
Chairman of the Marshall-Putnam unit of the American Cancer
Society, a member of Henry American Legion Post #323, a board
member of the Henry Community Food Pantry, active with the
Henry Red Stocking Fund, and a member of the First Christian
Church in Henry, where he served as a deacon, elder, and
Chairman of the Board; he later joined the Henry Presbyterian
Church; and
WHEREAS, William Greek was active with the Henry Rotary

Club; he was a former President and a Paul Harris Fellow; he
was a Group Study Exchange team member that traveled to
Australia and in 2007 he was named Rotarian of the Year; and
WHEREAS, William Greek was Past Master of the Henry Masonic
Lodge #119 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient
Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry NMJ, Peoria Consistory,
and the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mohammed Shrine in
Peoria, where he served as Potentate in 1980; he served as
board member of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago
for 10 years, including 3 years as board secretary and he was
also a member of Peoria Court 40, Royal Order of Jesters; and
WHEREAS, William Greek was preceded in death by his wife,
Nan; his daughter, Mary Greek; his grandson, Andrew Greek; and
his parents; and
WHEREAS, William Greek is survived by his daughter, Cyrena
(Jerry) Anderson; his sons, Tyler (Samantha) Greek and
Nathaniel (Jesica) Greek; and his grandchildren, William,
Nicholas, Zachery, Brandon, Trevor, Daniel, and Madison;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
William D. Greek, and extend our sincere condolences to his

family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of William Greek as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
