| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of William "Bill" Francis Dettmers of | ||||||
| 4 | Bethalto, who passed away on January 28, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, He was born May 30, 1923, in Bethalto, the son of | ||||||
| 6 | William Herman and Blanche (Rosin) Dettmers; he married Shirley | ||||||
| 7 | A. Warren on April 10, 1948, at Our Lady Queen of Peace | ||||||
| 8 | Catholic Church in Bethalto; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Army in | ||||||
| 10 | the European Theater during World War II, earning the Purple | ||||||
| 11 | Heart and retiring as a Master Sergeant; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, He retired as Bethalto Postmaster after 38 years; | ||||||
| 13 | he was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the | ||||||
| 14 | Bethalto American Legion Post No. 214, and the Bethalto Knights | ||||||
| 15 | of Columbus Council No. 4688, where he was a 3rd degree knight; | ||||||
| 16 | he was a coin, stamp, and baseball card collector, enjoyed wood | ||||||
| 17 | crafting, and was an avid dancer; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; | ||||||
| 19 | and one sister, Katherine Blastic; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, William Dettmers is survived by his children and | ||||||

| 1 | their spouses, William and Sandra Dettmers, Pamela and John | ||||||
| 2 | Gass, Craig Dettmers, Gary and Denise Dettmers, Paul Dettmers, | ||||||
| 3 | Teresa and Jim Langford, Susan and Steve Mitchell, Mary and | ||||||
| 4 | Kevin Hagerty, and Steve and Crystal Dettmers; his 21 | ||||||
| 5 | grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, June | ||||||
| 6 | DeLong; his special companion, Betty Bast; and his nieces and | ||||||
| 7 | nephews; therefore, be it

| 8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 10 | his family and friends, the passing of William Dettmers; and be | ||||||
| 11 | it further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to the family of William Dettmers as a symbol of our | ||||||
