2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Ruth Helen Johnson Ivantic of Lake | ||||||
4 | County, who passed away on May 1, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was born in Chicago to Joseph Johnson | ||||||
6 | and Anna Mae Wiley on September 13, 1927; she graduated from | ||||||
7 | Proviso East High School in Maywood in 1945 and married William | ||||||
8 | Ivantic in October of 1950; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic worked as a secretary for a variety | ||||||
10 | of businesses and organizations, including the Pure Oil | ||||||
11 | Company, the Deep Freeze Corporation, and the United States | ||||||
12 | Veterans' Administration in Downey; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was a devoted wife, mother, | ||||||
14 | grandmother, and great-grandmother; she loved to care for the | ||||||
15 | youngest members of her large extended family; she was known | ||||||
16 | for her remarkable skills in the kitchen and could always be | ||||||
17 | found cooking up a wonderful new recipe to share with friends | ||||||
18 | and family; she traveled with her husband, both domestically | ||||||
19 | and abroad, spending winters in Long Key, Florida; she enjoyed | ||||||
20 | golf outings with her many friends, playing in three local | ||||||
21 | leagues and shooting a hole-in-one in 1991; and

1 | WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was a member of many clubs and civic | ||||||
2 | organizations, including the North Chicago Women's Club and the | ||||||
3 | Red Hat Society of Long Key; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was preceded in death by her sister, | ||||||
5 | Alice Johnson Gungler, and her brother, Joseph "Bud" Johnson; | ||||||
6 | and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic is survived by her husband of 66 | ||||||
8 | years, William; her children, Thomas (Terri) Ivantic, Susan | ||||||
9 | (Thomas) Bowling, Elizabeth (Tom) Kneesel, Karen Ivantic, and | ||||||
10 | Amy (Alfred) Avakian; 15 grandchildren; five | ||||||
11 | great-grandchildren; her sister, Joanne Johnson Yeoman | ||||||
12 | Bonwell; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Ruth Helen Johnson Ivantic, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
16 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
17 | it further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Ruth Ivantic as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
