| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Nelson Gene Peterson of Moline, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on June 24, 2019; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson was born in Moline to Rudolph T. | ||||||
| 6 | and Nellie (Nelson) Peterson on August 20, 1923; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from Simpson College and served in the U.S. Army during World | ||||||
| 8 | War II in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central | ||||||
| 9 | Europe, earning several medals; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson worked as a history teacher at | ||||||
| 11 | Silvis Junior High School for 25 years, retiring in 1983; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson was a member of Bethany Baptist | ||||||
| 13 | Church, the National Education Association, and the Modern | ||||||
| 14 | Woodmen of America; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson is survived by his cousins, Sylvia | ||||||
| 16 | Maravelli, Kaye Strate, Susan Coopman, and Todd Nerdahl; | ||||||
| 17 | therefore, be it

| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 20 | Nelson Gene Peterson and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||

| 1 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
