2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Paul Clifford Parker of Rock Island, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on October 13, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Paul Parker was born to Clifford and Johanna | ||||||
6 | (Wiersma) Parker in Garden Plain on January 29, 1933; he was | ||||||
7 | raised in Lyons, Iowa; after graduating high school, he served | ||||||
8 | in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he married Joyce | ||||||
9 | Sipes, and together they raised three daughters; he earned his | ||||||
10 | bachelor's degree from Carthage College; he later married | ||||||
11 | Barbara Neumann; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Paul Parker worked as a welder for various | ||||||
13 | farming companies; after earning his degree, he worked at | ||||||
14 | Riverdale High School, where he taught math and coached | ||||||
15 | various sports, including football; he concluded his career as | ||||||
16 | the girls track coach and had a conference track meet named in | ||||||
17 | his honor; and

18 | WHEREAS, Paul Parker was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
19 | Joyce; his daughter, Deb; his parents; and ten siblings; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Paul Parker is survived by his wife, Barbara; his | ||||||
21 | daughters, Pam and Becky; his brother, Walt; several |

1 | grandchildren; and his extended family and friends; therefore, | ||||||

3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
