| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Ruby S. Widicus of rural Trenton, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on September 9, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus was born to Henry and Clara | ||||||
6 | (Koester) Seibert in Trenton on February 18, 1927; as a child, | ||||||
7 | she was a member of St John E & R in Summerfield; she attended | ||||||
8 | Summerfield School through 8th grade and graduated from | ||||||
9 | Lebanon High School; she then went to college for her | ||||||
10 | teacher's certificate; she later attended Washington | ||||||
11 | University where she took classes in pattern drafting; she | ||||||
12 | also attended classes in horticulture with a particular | ||||||
13 | interest in farm and garden plants; she married Kenneth | ||||||
14 | Widicus at St. Paul UCC in Lebanon on June 4, 1952; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus made wedding dresses and worked as a | ||||||
16 | seamstress for many years; for 35 years, she and her husband | ||||||
17 | owned Happy Day Kennels; she taught dog obedience classes; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, After her marriage, Ruby Widicus was a member of | ||||||
19 | St Paul UCC in Lebanon and belonged to the Tail Waggers 4-H; | ||||||
20 | and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus and her husband showed dogs all |

1 | around the country; they once won Best of Terrier Group and 2nd | ||||||
2 | Best of Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New | ||||||
3 | York; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus was preceded in death by her | ||||||
5 | parents; her husband; her daughter, Nancy Jane Widicus; and | ||||||
6 | her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Ella Widicus; | ||||||
7 | and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus is survived by her daughter, Diana | ||||||
9 | (Michael Davis) Widicus; her grandchildren of whom she was | ||||||
10 | especially proud, Michael Andrew (Destiny) Davis, Megan Anne | ||||||
11 | (Korhy) Flanary, Jane (Emily) Briguglio, and Nathan Henry | ||||||
12 | Davis; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver Patrick Flanary, | ||||||
13 | Nancy Jane Flanary, and Theodore Barton Davis; therefore, be | ||||||
14 | it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Ruby S. Widicus and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Ruby Widicus as an expression of our | ||||||
22 | deepest sympathy.
