2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Joseph J. Steele of Kewanee, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 6, 2023; and

5 | WHEREAS, Joseph Steele was born in Henry to Matthew and | ||||||
6 | Rena (Ballard) Steele on December 31, 1933; he served his | ||||||
7 | country in the United States Army during the Koren War from | ||||||
8 | 1950 to 1953; he married Clara Mattern in Henry on September | ||||||
9 | 17, 1955; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Joseph Steele retired from B.F. Goodrich in April | ||||||
11 | 1993; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Joseph Steele was a renowned bird carver and | ||||||
13 | enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Joseph Steele was preceded in death by his | ||||||
15 | parents; his brothers, John and Robert Steele; and his sister | ||||||
16 | Mary Steele; and

17 | WHEREAS, Joseph Steele is survived by his wife, Clara; his | ||||||
18 | sons, Joe (Pam), Dave (Carole), and Bill (Chris) Steele; nine | ||||||
19 | grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, | ||||||
20 | Terry Olson; therefore, be it
