| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Gordon Lee Barry of Urbana, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on June 15, 2019; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Gordon Barry was born in Pana to Merle and Bertha | ||||||
| 6 | Barry on September 24, 1931; he served in the United States | ||||||
| 7 | Navy during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan; he | ||||||
| 8 | married Margaret Caskey in 1950; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, After leaving the Navy, Gordon Barry returned to | ||||||
| 10 | the Greater St. Louis area; in 1966, he moved to Gibson City | ||||||
| 11 | and fulfilled his dream of owning his own company, Skywork, | ||||||
| 12 | Inc.; the business specialized in painting elevators and was | ||||||
| 13 | sold to his longtime friend and employee, Rick Evans, in 2016; | ||||||
| 14 | and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Gordon Barry was a member of the First | ||||||
| 16 | Presbyterian Church, the Rotary Club, and various civic | ||||||
| 17 | organizations in Gibson City; he enjoyed making stained glass | ||||||
| 18 | windows and ornaments; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Gordon Barry was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
| 20 | Margaret; his son, Dennis; his brother, Lynn; and his sisters, | ||||||
| 21 | Louise and Norma; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Gordon Barry is survived by his daughters, Barbara | ||||||
| 2 | (Bob) Bennett and Carol (Robin) Sanecki; his six grandchildren; | ||||||
| 3 | and his five great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 6 | Gordon Lee Barry and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 8 | further

| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
