2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Phyllis J. Bogdan of Joliet, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on April 20, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan was born in Joliet to Esther Fields | ||||||
6 | and William T. Davies on May 16, 1928 and married Eugene I. | ||||||
7 | Bogdan after high school; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan supported her husband in The Farm | ||||||
9 | Shop, the Holiday Inns, the Magic Palace, and the Joliet Area | ||||||
10 | Historical Society; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan loved music and learning the piano | ||||||
12 | from her mother; she took the train back and forth from the age | ||||||
13 | of 12 to the Conservatory of Music in Joliet and in Chicago | ||||||
14 | where she learned the violin; she played violin in the Joliet | ||||||
15 | Grade School Orchestra, the Joliet Township High School | ||||||
16 | Orchestra, the Kiwanis Shows, and the New People; she sang at | ||||||
17 | the Joliet Correctional Center; she was the soloist at the | ||||||
18 | Christian Scientist Church and directed the youth choir at | ||||||
19 | Richards Street United Methodist Church; and

20 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan was preceded in death by her | ||||||
21 | husband of 61 years, Eugene; her parents; her sister, Betty |
