| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Everett A. Thompson formally of Rural | ||||||
| 4 | Township, who passed away on April 27, 2017 at the age of 94; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Everett Thompson was born to William and Elizabeth | ||||||
| 7 | Thompson; he was a true member of the "Greatest Generation" and | ||||||
| 8 | served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the | ||||||
| 9 | destroyer USS Macomb (DD-458); he saw action off the coast of | ||||||
| 10 | North Africa, in Italy, and in the North Atlantic; he served in | ||||||
| 11 | the Pacific Theater during the invasion of Okinawa; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Everett Thompson owned and operated his own farm | ||||||
| 13 | while also working at John Deere Harvester for more than 25 | ||||||
| 14 | years; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Everett Thompson was a loving husband and father | ||||||
| 16 | and will be greatly missed by his small but loving family; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Everett Thompson was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 18 | parents; his brothers, Bill, Vernon, and Richard; and his | ||||||
| 19 | sisters, Violet and Adeline; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Everett Thompson is survived by his wife of 71 | ||||||

| 1 | years, Ruth; his daughter, Alene (George) Humphrey; his | ||||||
| 2 | grandson, Michael; and his great-grandchildren, Kathryn Rose | ||||||
| 3 | and Ryan; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 6 | Everett A. Thompson, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 8 | further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the family of Everett Thompson as an expression of | ||||||
| 11 | our deepest sympathy.
