SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James "Jim" A. Sohn of Bethalto, who
4passed away on April 25, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, James Sohn was born to William and Julia Sohn on
6April 13, 1937; he was a veteran of the United States Army and
7married Donna Lou Fishback on February 2, 1964; and
8 WHEREAS, James Sohn proudly served as an Illinois State
9Trooper, retiring after 30 years of service; he also served the
10community of Bethalto as the Chairman of the Police and Fire
11Commission for 10 years; and
12 WHEREAS, James Sohn was a member of the Moose Lodge #1349
13in Wood River, the American Legion Post 794 in East Alton, and
14the Eagles Lodge Foe #254 in Alton; and
15 WHEREAS, James Sohn was preceded in death by his parents;
16his son, Steve Bowman; his nephew, Jimmy Sanders; and his
17sister, Billie Cochran; and
18 WHEREAS, James Sohn is survived by his wife of 53 years,
19Donna; his daughters, Becky (Dale) Stewart, Patty (Rick)
20Guthrie, Kris Sohn, and Jamie (Mike) Hilliard; his

1grandchildren, Nate, Nick, Andrea, Julia, Percy, Kayla,
2Jennifer, Brandy, Chase, Alec, Blake, Brooke, and Breanna; his
3great-grandchildren, Natalie, Connor, Eden, Ainsley, Caige,
4Emma, Dylan, and Rowan; his sister, Henrietta (Robert) Bellina;
5and his sister-in-law, Ellen Sanders; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8James "Jim" A. Sohn, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of James Sohn as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
