| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Robert J. "Bob" Cassidy of Peoria, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on July 2, 2021; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bob Cassidy was born in Peoria to Robert A. "Bib" | ||||||
| 6 | Cassidy and Delores M. (Wyzlic) Cassidy on September 19, 1949; | ||||||
| 7 | he was raised in the South Side of Peoria; he attended St. | ||||||
| 8 | Boniface Grade School and graduated from Manual High School in | ||||||
| 9 | 1969; he then completed a 5-year Steamfitter apprenticeship; | ||||||
| 10 | he married Mary Alycia Navarro on April 4, 1970, and they | ||||||
| 11 | raised their four children in Bartonville; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Bob Cassidy became a devoted member of | ||||||
| 13 | Steamfitters Local 353; during his 50-year career within the | ||||||
| 14 | Steamfitter union, he served in many capacities, including as | ||||||
| 15 | business agent and business manager; he retired as a state | ||||||
| 16 | organizer for the Illinois Pipe Trades in 2009; he also served | ||||||
| 17 | on multiple committees and was a union steward for the Edward | ||||||
| 18 | Power Station and the Pabst Brewing Company; he enjoyed | ||||||
| 19 | traveling for his union brotherhood alongside his wife, Mary; | ||||||
| 20 | and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Bob Cassidy was an avid golfer, joke teller, | ||||||
| 22 | sports fan, and coach; he enjoyed vacationing and spending | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | time with his family; he loved being a full-time grandfather | ||||||
| 2 | during his retirement and enjoyed watching his grandchildren | ||||||
| 3 | play sports; he coached countless soccer, softball, baseball, | ||||||
| 4 | and football teams over the years; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bob Cassidy was an incredible father who was | ||||||
| 6 | known for being protective, caring, warm, selfless, and | ||||||
| 7 | candid; he served as an endless source of guidance, fatherly | ||||||
| 8 | advice, discipline, and humor for his children and their many | ||||||
| 9 | friends; he always put others before himself and gave more | ||||||
| 10 | than he received; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Bob Cassidy was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 12 | and his brother, John A. Cassidy; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Bob Cassidy is survived by his wife of 51 years, | ||||||
| 14 | Mary A. Cassidy; his children, Bobby (Toni) Cassidy II, Erica | ||||||
| 15 | (Jeremy) Placher, Bret (Kirbie) Cassidy, and Nicole (Nate) | ||||||
| 16 | Shaw; his grandchildren, Roman Cassidy, Sophia Cassidy, Nolan | ||||||
| 17 | Placher, Pierce Placher, and Brooks Placher; and his sisters, | ||||||
| 18 | Linda (David) Ogle, Karen Clark, and Donna (Ray) Crawl; | ||||||
| 19 | therefore, be it

| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 22 | Robert J. "Bob" Cassidy and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||

| 1 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||

| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
