2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of James M. Velloff of Alton, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on April 18, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, James Velloff was born in Alton to Marion S. and | ||||||
6 | Agnes (Budde) Velloff on February 5, 1938 and graduated from | ||||||
7 | Marquette High School in 1956; he earned his Bachelor of | ||||||
8 | Science in math with minors in education and philosophy from | ||||||
9 | St. Louis University in 1960; he earned his master's degree in | ||||||
10 | math from Southern Illinois University in 1968 and married Rita | ||||||
11 | Terlisner on November 24, 1960; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, James Velloff taught math at Southwestern High | ||||||
13 | School from 1960 to 1965 and at Roxana High School from 1965 to | ||||||
14 | 1993; he was also a business partner with his brother, Marion, | ||||||
15 | at Velloff's Power Equipment in Alton from 1970 to 2015; and

16 | WHEREAS, James Velloff enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing | ||||||
17 | cards, especially bridge and pinochle; he also enjoyed | ||||||
18 | traveling and camping with his family; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, James Velloff is survived by his wife, Rita; his | ||||||
20 | children, James (Christine) Velloff, Beth (Dennis) Young, | ||||||
21 | Michael (Beverly) Velloff, and Richard (Heather) Velloff; his |

1 | grandchildren, Joe, Brian, Renee, and Ellen Young, Erin and | ||||||
2 | Kylee Velloff, Clara and Cain Velloff, R.J., Clayton, and | ||||||

4 | (Terrah) Velloff, Thomas (Carole) Velloff, and Christopher | ||||||
5 | (Sharon) Velloff; and his sister, Pauline Rathgeb; therefore, | ||||||

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | James M. Velloff, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
11 | further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of James Velloff as an expression of | ||||||
14 | our deepest sympathy.
