SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Howard Breckenfeld of Winthrop Harbor;
and
WHEREAS, He was born on January 20, 1921 in Minneapolis,
Minnesota; he served with the United States Navy during World
War II in the South Pacific; he was a recipient of the Purple
Heart from injuries he received during his service; and
WHEREAS, He retired from OMC in the 1986; he was an active
member of the Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church and a
member of the American Legion; he also served as Mayor of
Winthrop Harbor in the early 1960s; and
WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, William
and Clara Breckenfeld; his brother, Herbert "Jack"
Breckenfeld; and his sister-in-law, June Breckenfeld; and
WHEREAS, Howard Breckenfeld is survived by his wife of 65
years, Ruth; his children, Bruce (Joanna) Breckenfeld, Susan
(Tony) Hladky, and Brian Breckenfeld; his grandchildren, Ted
(Tina) Breckenfeld, Ellen (Brian) Shuanessy, Christopher
Hladky, and Kara Hladky; his great-grandchildren, Hanna
Breckenfeld, Garret Breckenfeld, and Molly Hladky; his

brother, Jim Breckenfeld; and his sister-in-law, Gloria
Breckenfeld; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of Howard Breckenfeld; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Howard Breckenfeld as a symbol of
our sincere sympathy.
