2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal | ||||||
4 | Jordan Stephen Bastean of Pekin, who passed away on October 23, | ||||||
5 | 2011; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean was born on March 10, 1992, | ||||||
7 | in Peoria; his parents are Steven Phillip and Kathy Rae | ||||||
8 | (Leichtenberg) Bastean; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean graduated from Pekin | ||||||
10 | Community High School (P.C.H.S.) in 2010; while at P.C.H.S., he | ||||||
11 | was a 4-year cadet of the JROTC and was the captain of the Air | ||||||
12 | Rifle Team; he also participated in track and cross country; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean served his country with | ||||||
15 | pride and distinction as a member of the 3rd Battalion, 7th | ||||||
16 | Marine Regiment of the 1st Marine Division, I Marine | ||||||
17 | Expeditionary Force out of Twentynine Palms, California; and

18 | WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean loved big trucks, hunting, | ||||||
19 | and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean was preceded in death by |

1 | his cousin, Ella Leichtenberg; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean is survived by his mother, | ||||||
3 | Kathy Bastean; his father, Steven Bastean; his grandparents, | ||||||
4 | Bob Leichtenberg, Judy Leichtenberg, Thomas Bastean, and | ||||||
5 | Jackie and Phil Pampinella; his great-grandparents, Florence | ||||||
6 | and Jim Arnold, Ray Besancenez, and Gene and Gina Vahle; and | ||||||
7 | his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean's patriotism and courage | ||||||
9 | will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow | ||||||
10 | soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, | ||||||
11 | be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
14 | his family and friends, the passing of United States Marine | ||||||
15 | Corps Lance Corporal Jordan Stephen Bastean; and be it further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean as an | ||||||
18 | expression of our sympathy.
