2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Roy Martin Jr. of Coal Valley, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on March 31, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Roy Martin Jr. was born in Rock Island to Roy Sr. | ||||||
6 | and Marie Verhelst Martin on June 15, 1931; he served in the | ||||||
7 | United States Army during the Korean War and married Sharon | ||||||
8 | DeFrieze in November of 2002; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Roy Martin Jr. was a steelworker at Alcoa | ||||||
10 | Davenport Works for over 56 years, retiring in March of 2007; | ||||||
11 | and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Roy Martin Jr. was a member of United Steelworkers | ||||||
13 | Local 105 in Bettendorf, Iowa and the Aluminum Workers | ||||||
14 | International Local 105 in Bettendorf; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Roy Martin Jr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
16 | parents and his wife, Sharon; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Roy Martin Jr. is survived by his son, Kyle | ||||||
18 | Martin; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
2 | Roy Martin Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
3 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
