| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Allene Strong of Chicago, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on May 24, 2013; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Allene Strong was born on May 25, 1906, in Little | ||||||
| 6 | Rock, Arkansas, to Sarah and Roger Brooks; she moved with her | ||||||
| 7 | family to Marvell, Arkansas, and married James Walker; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, In 1942, Allene Strong, widowed, moved to Chicago; | ||||||
| 9 | she joined the Carey Tercentenary AME Church in 1943 and was a | ||||||
| 10 | member all of her life; she served on the Annie Huey Missionary | ||||||
| 11 | Society; she married George Strong in 1954 and together they | ||||||
| 12 | enjoyed going to church every Sunday, vacationing, block club, | ||||||
| 13 | and spending time with family and friends; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Allene Strong was preceded in death by her first | ||||||
| 15 | husband, James; her children, Dorothy and James; her second | ||||||
| 16 | husband, George; and her nieces, Irene and Sarah; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Allene Strong is survived by her granddaughters, | ||||||
| 18 | Beverly and Elaine; her great-granddaughter, Erika; her boy, | ||||||
| 19 | James; her niece, Ernestine; and several great-grandchildren | ||||||
| 20 | and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 3 | Allene Strong, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 4 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 5 | further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the family of Allene Strong as an expression of | ||||||
| 8 | our deepest sympathy.
