SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Allene Strong of Chicago, who passed away
on May 24, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Allene Strong was born on May 25, 1906, in Little
Rock, Arkansas, to Sarah and Roger Brooks; she moved with her
family to Marvell, Arkansas, and married James Walker; and
WHEREAS, In 1942, Allene Strong, widowed, moved to Chicago;
she joined the Carey Tercentenary AME Church in 1943 and was a
member all of her life; she served on the Annie Huey Missionary
Society; she married George Strong in 1954 and together they
enjoyed going to church every Sunday, vacationing, block club,
and spending time with family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Allene Strong was preceded in death by her first
husband, James; her children, Dorothy and James; her second
husband, George; and her nieces, Irene and Sarah; and
WHEREAS, Allene Strong is survived by her granddaughters,
Beverly and Elaine; her great-granddaughter, Erika; her boy,
James; her niece, Ernestine; and several great-grandchildren
and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Allene Strong, and extend our sincere condolences to her
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Allene Strong as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
