SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Lorraine R. Zier of Elwood, formerly of
Joliet, who passed away on September 17, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine Zier was born on July 22, 1929 in Joliet;
she was a lifelong resident of Joliet; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine Zier graduated from Joliet Township High
School in 1947; she retired from Al Baskin's in the early 1970s
after many years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine Zier was preceded in death by her
husband, Donald L. "Ziggy" Zier; her parents, Runo and Ruby
Norberg; and her brothers, LeRoy and Earl Norberg; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine Zier is survived by her children, Ronald
C. (Nancy) Zier, Kathy (Michael) Derrig, and Carol J. Zier; her
grandchildren, Jodi Zier, Steven (Barbara) Zier, Kristin
(Ryan) McWilliam, and Craig Derrig; her great-grandchildren,
Jacob Zier, Ty Zier, and Ryan, Jace, Seth, and Payton
McWilliam; her brother, Howard (Doris) Norberg; her
sister-in-law, Mary Norberg; and her special friend, John
Zajecka; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of Lorraine R. Zier; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Lorraine Zier as an expression of
our sympathy.
