| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of R. Garey Hodge of Springfield, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on May 29, 2023; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, R. Garey Hodge was born to Chester B. and Jean | ||||||
| 6 | Stine Hodge in Moweaqua on July 27, 1937; he received his | ||||||
| 7 | Bachelor of Science in Art Education and Masters of Arts in | ||||||
| 8 | Painting and Art History from Eastern Illinois University; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, R. Garey Hodge taught art in Springfield Public | ||||||
| 10 | Schools District 186 from 1962 until he retired from | ||||||
| 11 | Springfield High School in 1994; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, R. Garey Hodge was a partner and served on the | ||||||
| 13 | board of directors of the C.R. Davis Company in Springfield; | ||||||
| 14 | he was a member of St. Paul's Lodge No. 500 A.F. & A.M., the | ||||||
| 15 | Scottish Rite Consistory, the Springfield York Rite, the | ||||||
| 16 | Knights Templar, Ansar Shrine, the Ansar Mounted Cowboys Unit, | ||||||
| 17 | and the Royal Order of Jesters; he was a Kentucky Colonel; he | ||||||
| 18 | was also a past president of the Springfield chapter of the | ||||||
| 19 | National Society of Sons of the American Revolution; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, R. Garey Hodge was known for his sports-themed | ||||||
| 21 | drawings and acrylic paintings, which he exhibited in numerous | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | states; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, R. Garey Hodge was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 3 | parents; his brothers, Robert S. Hodge and Chester B. Hodge | ||||||
| 4 | Jr.; and his sister, Audrey C. Carnegie; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
| 7 | R. Garey Hodge and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
| 8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
| 9 | further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
| 11 | presented to the family of R. Garey Hodge as an expression of
| ||||||
| 12 | our deepest sympathy.
