| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Elvira A. "Vera" Blazevic of Joliet, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 4, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, She was born June 22, 1915 to the late Peter and | ||||||
6 | Antoinette (nee Genard) Baudino; she was a graduate of Joliet | ||||||
7 | Township High School, Class of 1933; she married Anton William | ||||||
8 | Blazevic on December 30, 1939; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Anton founded Modern Home Builders of Joliet | ||||||
10 | (later Modern Builders Industrial Concrete Company) in 1947 and | ||||||
11 | his wife was very supportive and instrumental in its success | ||||||
12 | throughout the years; prior to her marriage, she was employed | ||||||
13 | at Goldblatt's Department Store in yards goods where her | ||||||
14 | ability to instantly price material was amazing; she was also | ||||||
15 | an excellent seamstress, sewing everything from wedding gowns | ||||||
16 | to coats; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, She was a woman of deep faith, and was a founding | ||||||
18 | member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of | ||||||
19 | the Paulites; she was a benefactor to her church and to many | ||||||
20 | local charitable organizations; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, She loved the outdoors; as a young woman she could |

1 | be found horseback riding at the old Woodruff Stables or | ||||||
2 | swimming at Joliet's Michigan Beach; she enjoyed gardening and | ||||||
3 | golfed up to age 91; winning various golf tournaments through | ||||||
4 | the years, she also was an original member of the Joliet | ||||||
5 | Country Club Women's Golf Team; in the 1950s, she and her | ||||||
6 | husband were the first to waterski on the Kankakee River, and | ||||||
7 | over the years introduced their family and friends to the | ||||||
8 | sport; and

9 | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; her | ||||||
10 | sisters, Irma Cassani and Anna Marie; and her brothers, Joe, | ||||||
11 | Lawrence, and Ray Baudino; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Elvira Blazevic was the beloved mother of Tana | ||||||
13 | (Mel) Gray and Terrance (Georgia) Blazevic; the loving and | ||||||
14 | devoted grandmother of Jennifer (Marc) Stanley, Rachel (Olof) | ||||||
15 | Anderson, Stephanie Gray, April (Matthew) Woodside, Alisha | ||||||
16 | (Nicki), and the late Bryce A.G. Blazevic; the dearest | ||||||
17 | great-grandmother of Leif, Steffan, and twins, Annika and | ||||||
18 | Charlotte Anderson, Zachary and Catherine Woodside, Samuel, | ||||||
19 | Benjamin, and Josephine Blazevic-Seibert; she will also be | ||||||
20 | missed by her dear friends, Mary Lu Silk, Louise "Weezee" | ||||||
21 | Simmons, and Mary Lou Langdon; therefore, be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
23 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |

1 | her family and friends, the passing of Elvira Blazevic; and be | ||||||
2 | it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the family of Elvira Blazevic as a symbol of our | ||||||
5 | sincere sympathy.
