2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Samuel Cunningham "Sam" Wray of Coal | ||||||
4 | Valley, who passed away on March 27, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Sam Wray was born in Warsaw, Missouri to Harold | ||||||
6 | Riley and Edith Pauline Linn Wray on July 18, 1935; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical | ||||||
8 | engineering; he served in the United States Army for three | ||||||
9 | years; he married Hildegarde Rogge in Rockville, Maryland on | ||||||
10 | July 20, 1957; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Sam Wray worked as a consulting engineer for KJWW | ||||||
12 | and retired in 1996 after 29 years of service; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Sam Wray was an active member of First | ||||||
14 | Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, where he was a member of the | ||||||
15 | Men's Club; he was also a member of the Rock Island Rotary | ||||||
16 | Club; he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, traveling, | ||||||
17 | golfing, history, and geography; and

18 | WHEREAS, Sam Wray was preceded in death by his parents and | ||||||
19 | his sister, Quintella Markley; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Sam Wray is survived by his wife of 62 years, |

1 | Hilde; his sons, Matthew (Marlaine) Wray, Timothy (Virginia) | ||||||
2 | Wray, and David (Patty) Wray; his grandchildren and their | ||||||
3 | spouses, Danielle Higgins, Myles Higgins, Tessa and Josh Lane, | ||||||
4 | Caleb Wray, Josh Wray, Jacob and Whitney Wray, Sierra Wray, | ||||||
5 | Tiffany and Joseph Dockery-Jackson, Samantha Wray, and Zachary | ||||||
6 | Wray; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan, Anneliese, | ||||||
7 | and Oliver Dockery-Jackson; therefore, be it

8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
10 | Samuel Cunningham "Sam" Wray and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
11 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
12 | it further
