2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Michael Terrel Banks, Jr., who passed | ||||||
4 | away on August 12, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. was born on July 18, 1972, in | ||||||
6 | Chicago; his parents were Horace and Florine Coney Banks; he | ||||||
7 | married Nicole Starks on October 6, 2001; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. accepted the Lord as his | ||||||
9 | personal savior at an early age; he was a member of the Great | ||||||
10 | Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Robbins; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. attended Thomas Brenan | ||||||
12 | Elementary School in Chicago before graduating from Harold L. | ||||||
13 | Richards High School in Oak Lawn in 1990; during school, he was | ||||||
14 | an accomplished basketball player who earned numerous trophies | ||||||
15 | and awards; and

16 | WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. was employed with the Chicago | ||||||
17 | Transit Authority for over 20 years; he began his career as a | ||||||
18 | car serviceman before becoming certified to work as a | ||||||
19 | repairman; he subsequently became a Leader with the CTA; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. enjoyed good food, spending |

1 | time with his family and friends, and making people laugh; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | brother-in-law, Donald; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. is survived by his loving wife, | ||||||
5 | Nicole; his daughters, Sharrel Howard and Mikayla; his son, | ||||||
6 | Michael Jr.; his parents; his siblings, Robin Banks, Carolyn | ||||||
7 | (Sherman) Banks-Bomman, Daryon (Irene Robinson) Banks, and | ||||||
8 | Brian (Eulonda); his godparents, Roy and Velma King; his | ||||||
9 | father-in-law, Handsome Carson; his mother-in-law, Barbara | ||||||
10 | Starks; his sisters-in-law, Brandy (Lloyd) Henderson, Colleen | ||||||
11 | Downey, and Glenyes Davis; his brothers-in-law, Mahseyah, | ||||||
12 | Nahvee, Ahmaria, and Marchello; his nieces, Shavone, Angela, | ||||||
13 | Shanica, Shatoria, and Daryona; his nephews, Tyrone, Curtis, | ||||||
14 | and Daryon, Jr.; his four great-nieces; his great-nephew; and | ||||||
15 | his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
18 | his family and friends, the passing of Michael Terrel Banks, | ||||||
19 | Jr.; and be it further
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Michael Banks, Jr. as an expression | ||||||
22 | of our sympathy.
