| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of LeRoy Ernest Wegener of Volo, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on May 8, 2013; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, LeRoy Wegener was born on October 19, 1931, in | ||||||
| 6 | Volo; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, LeRoy Wegener graduated from Grant High School in | ||||||
| 8 | 1949; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, LeRoy Wegener was employed as a dairy farmer and | ||||||
| 10 | milk distributor; after retirement, he worked as a security | ||||||
| 11 | guard for 15 years; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, LeRoy Wegener's heritage in farming developed | ||||||
| 13 | into a passion for gardening, where he found joy in continuing | ||||||
| 14 | to provide for his family; he carefully tended his large | ||||||
| 15 | vegetable garden every year and enlisted anyone on the property | ||||||
| 16 | to help weed and water; the ultimate expression of his hobby | ||||||
| 17 | was Wegener Corn Day, an annual family gathering to pick, | ||||||
| 18 | prepare, and freeze sweet corn in traditional barn raising | ||||||
| 19 | fashion; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, LeRoy Wegener served in his church and community | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | in a variety of leadership roles; he served as a trustee for | ||||||
| 2 | the Village of Volo for the last 12 years; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, LeRoy Wegener was preceded in death by his father | ||||||
| 4 | and mother, Henry and Rose; his sisters, Agnes and Rosemary; | ||||||
| 5 | his brother, Leo; his grandson, Neil; and his daughter-in-law, | ||||||
| 6 | Sylvia Wegener; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, LeRoy Wegener is survived by his beloved wife of | ||||||
| 8 | 61 years, Lorena Grace; his children, Linda (Dennis) Volling, | ||||||
| 9 | Francine Meyer, Larry (Kathy) Wegener, Brenda (Kent) Hansen, | ||||||
| 10 | Yvonne (Patrick) Neal, Nancy (Marc) Doubleday, Rose (Bob) | ||||||
| 11 | Campbell, Tim Wegener, Nadine (Kingston) Bowen, Andrea (Chris) | ||||||
| 12 | Manahan, and Amy (Leith) Camden; his grandchildren, Tricia, | ||||||
| 13 | Neil, Joshua, Benjamin, Nathanael, Elizabeth, Meghan, | ||||||
| 14 | Thaddaeus, Lisa, Adam, Laura, Allison, Nicholas, Morgan, | ||||||

| 23 | his family and friends, the passing of LeRoy Ernest Wegener; | ||||||
