| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Hugo Koranda of Burr Ridge, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on May 15, 2009; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, He was born in Chicago and grew up in La Grange; | ||||||
| 6 | he was a graduate of Lyons Township High School; he received | ||||||
| 7 | his Bachelor's degree and law degree from Northwestern | ||||||
| 8 | University; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, After law school he worked as an attorney for | ||||||
| 10 | Montgomery Ward in Chicago; from 1942 to 1946 he served with | ||||||
| 11 | the United States Army in the Military Intelligence Division, | ||||||
| 12 | serving as a 1st lieutenant with duties related to the atomic | ||||||
| 13 | bomb project; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, After serving in the military, he opened his legal | ||||||
| 15 | practice in La Grange, where one of his clients was Cicero | ||||||
| 16 | Federal Savings and Loan Association; in 1949, he accepted the | ||||||
| 17 | position of managing officer at Cicero Federal Savings and | ||||||
| 18 | Loan, which later became MidAmerica Bank; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, He retired as chairman of the Board of MidAmerica | ||||||
| 20 | Bank in 1985; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Hugo Koranda is survived by his wife, Eunice; his | ||||||
| 2 | sons, Allen and Kenneth; his daughter, Janann; his five | ||||||
| 3 | grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren; therefore, be | ||||||
| 4 | it
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 7 | his family and friends, the passing of Hugo Koranda; and be it | ||||||
| 8 | further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the family of Hugo Koranda as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 11 | sincere sympathy.
