1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Barbara Mary Witczak Hartnett, Ed.D., | ||||||
4 | of Lawrence, Kansas, who passed away on April 27, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Barbara Hartnett was born to Matthew and Mary | ||||||
6 | Witczak in Cicero on December 5, 1946; she graduated from St. | ||||||
7 | Mary of Czestochowa Grade School and then Nazareth Academy; | ||||||
8 | she met her future husband, Mike Hartnett, in high school, and | ||||||
9 | the two married in 1968; she earned a bachelor's degree from | ||||||
10 | the University of Illinois, a master's degree from Illinois | ||||||
11 | State University, and a doctorate from Northern Illinois | ||||||
12 | University; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Barbara Hartnett taught psychology for many | ||||||
14 | years at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, eventually | ||||||
15 | rising to the rank of full professor; she later took early | ||||||
16 | retirement and became executive director of the Friendship | ||||||
17 | House of Christian Service, a social agency in Peoria; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Barbara Hartnett and her husband moved to | ||||||
19 | Lawrence in 2013 where she served on the board of directors for | ||||||
20 | 10,000 Villages and Altrusa; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
3 | Barbara Mary Witczak Hartnett, Ed.D. and extend our sincere | ||||||
4 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
5 | her; and be it further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Dr. Barbara Hartnett as an | ||||||
8 | expression of our deepest sympathy.
