| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, On Mother's Day, we traditionally honor the | ||||||
3 | grace, wisdom, and strength of our mothers, and we celebrate | ||||||
4 | the special bonds shared between mothers and their children; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Mothers work tirelessly to help their children | ||||||
7 | build healthy and successful lives; through their positive | ||||||
8 | examples and countless acts of kindness, mothers teach the | ||||||
9 | values of generosity and compassion and the importance of | ||||||
10 | family and community; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, By providing a nurturing environment where their | ||||||
12 | children can grow in confidence and character, mothers lay the | ||||||
13 | foundation for the next generation to realize their full | ||||||
14 | potential; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Our State is grateful for the sacrifices mothers | ||||||
16 | make every day and for the unconditional love they give their | ||||||
17 | children; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, We are especially thankful for the mothers who | ||||||
19 | support their sons and daughters serving in our Armed Forces | ||||||
20 | and for the mothers who bring honor to the uniform of the | ||||||
21 | United States by defending our freedom at home and abroad; and

1 | WHEREAS, Every child who experiences a mother's love has | ||||||
2 | been given one of life's great gifts; mothers have made | ||||||
3 | extraordinary contributions to their children, their families, | ||||||
4 | and our State; and

5 | WHEREAS, To honor mothers, Congress, by a joint resolution | ||||||
6 | approved May 8, 1914, as amended (38 Stat. 770), has | ||||||
7 | designated the second Sunday in May each year as "Mother's | ||||||
8 | Day"; therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Mother's | ||||||
11 | Day and all of the contributions Illinois mothers have made | ||||||
12 | and continue to make; and be it further
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, That we encourage all Illinoisans to show their | ||||||
14 | gratitude and love to mothers for making a difference in the | ||||||
15 | lives of their children, families, and communities and to | ||||||
16 | observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and | ||||||
17 | activities.
