SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, On Mother's Day, we traditionally honor the
3grace, wisdom, and strength of our mothers, and we celebrate
4the special bonds shared between mothers and their children;
5and
6 WHEREAS, Mothers work tirelessly to help their children
7build healthy and successful lives; through their positive
8examples and countless acts of kindness, mothers teach the
9values of generosity and compassion and the importance of
10family and community; and
11 WHEREAS, By providing a nurturing environment where their
12children can grow in confidence and character, mothers lay the
13foundation for the next generation to realize their full
14potential; and
15 WHEREAS, Our State is grateful for the sacrifices mothers
16make every day and for the unconditional love they give their
17children; and
18 WHEREAS, We are especially thankful for the mothers who
19support their sons and daughters serving in our Armed Forces
20and for the mothers who bring honor to the uniform of the
21United States by defending our freedom at home and abroad; and

1 WHEREAS, Every child who experiences a mother's love has
2been given one of life's great gifts; mothers have made
3extraordinary contributions to their children, their families,
4and our State; and
5 WHEREAS, To honor mothers, Congress, by a joint resolution
6approved May 8, 1914, as amended (38 Stat. 770), has
7designated the second Sunday in May each year as "Mother's
8Day"; therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Mother's
11Day and all of the contributions Illinois mothers have made
12and continue to make; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That we encourage all Illinoisans to show their
14gratitude and love to mothers for making a difference in the
15lives of their children, families, and communities and to
16observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and
17activities.
