2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Inell Brewer, who passed away on April 5, | ||||||
4 | 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Inell Brewer was born as Johnnie Mae Ervin on | ||||||
6 | January 16, 1930, in Lexington, Mississippi; her parents were | ||||||
7 | John and Elnora Ervin; her father changed her name to Inell | ||||||
8 | when she was 2 years old; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Inell Brewer later moved to Chicago and married | ||||||
10 | Burney Brewer in 1952; to this union, 9 children were born; | ||||||
11 | from 1952 to 1979, she and her family lived on the near north | ||||||
12 | side and Cabrini-Green housing projects, before relocating to | ||||||
13 | the west side of Chicago; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Inell Brewer was a domestic engineer and also | ||||||
15 | served as a hairdresser for her family and friends; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Inell Brewer was a member of Mt Olivet M.B. | ||||||
17 | Church, under the leadership of Rev. Fred Daniels, Rev. Steve | ||||||
18 | C. Chew, and Rev. Ray C. Bonney, as well as Little Rock M.B. | ||||||
19 | Church, under the leadership of Rev. Leroy Davenport; she was | ||||||
20 | also a member of Holy Corinthian M.B. Church, under the | ||||||
21 | leadership of Rev. C.T. Baker; she finally became a member of |

1 | Union Hill Baptist Church in order to be with her husband; at | ||||||
2 | each church, she was an active choir member and led several | ||||||
3 | songs, including "Lord You've Been Good to Me"; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Inell Brewer enjoyed cooking, especially for her | ||||||
5 | grandchildren, and singing praises to God; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Inell Brewer is survived by her daughters, Thelma | ||||||
7 | (Kenneth) Griffin, Jeffery Pearl Cocroft, Sandra Jean (Hubert) | ||||||
8 | Phillips, Denise Brewer, Geraldine Sutton, Sharon Lanette, and | ||||||
9 | Anastasia Lavonne Baker; her sons, Ollie and Andrew Wayne; her | ||||||
10 | daughter-in-law, Joyce Brewer; her brother-in-law, Frank | ||||||
11 | Phillips; her sisters-in-law, Lou Emma Brewer, Stella Brewer, | ||||||
12 | and Louise Brewer; her grandchildren, Nikia Alicia (James) | ||||||
13 | Ward, Tanisha Nicole Brewer, Tony Jerome, Jr. (Asha) Sutton, | ||||||
14 | Grant Phillip Brewer, Darrius Diontae Sutton, Tashiana Cheri | ||||||
15 | Phillips, Sean Lamar Brewer, Kyla Shardae, Jerome II, and | ||||||
16 | Kristen Madison Baker; her great-granddaughters, Raven Tuere | ||||||
17 | Hams and Sophie Sutton; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, | ||||||
18 | friends, and members of the Union Hill family; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
21 | his family and friends, the passing of Inell Brewer; and be it | ||||||
22 | further
