SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James W. "Bill" Johnson of Silvis, who
4passed away on March 20, 2021; and
5 WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was born in Springfield to George
6Andrew and Florence Lorriane Ulrey Johnson on October 28,
71938; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Roosevelt and
8USS Independence during the Vietnam War and married Shirley
9Ann Baird in Moline on November 18, 1962; and
10 WHEREAS, Bill Johnson retired from the Rock Island Arsenal
11after 28 years; and
12 WHEREAS, Bill Johnson loved attending his children's and
13grandchildren's sporting events; he also enjoyed bowling,
14baseball and softball, playing pool, and fishing; he was a fan
15of the Illini, the Chicago Bears, and the St. Louis Cardinals;
16and
17 WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was preceded in death by his
18parents; his stepparents, Jean Lewis and Adrian Losey; his
19son, Wayne; his sister, Judith Marlene Carstens; and his
20stepsister, Patricia Ann Beal; and

1 WHEREAS, Bill Johnson is survived by his wife, Shirley;
2his children, Sydney "Scott" (Diane) Johnson, Deborah (Jack)
3Brooks, James W. "Bill" Johnson Jr., Georgette Andrea (Dave)
4Wheeler, and Sherry Renee (Kartey) Ocansey; 10 grandchildren;
510 great-grandchildren; and his stepsisters, Judy (Charlie)
6Nance and Nancy Terrill; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James W. "Bill" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Bill Johnson as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
