SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Fred J. Haddad, Sr. of Hopedale, who
passed away on May 20, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Fred Haddad Sr. was born on April 18, 1915, in
Peoria; his parents were Joseph and Mary Sleyman Haddad; he
married Mary E. Ringness on October 4, 1936, in Peoria; and
WHEREAS, Fred Haddad Sr. attended Bradley University
before following in his father's footsteps in the grocery
business; he was the founder of Haddad's Market on Wisconsin
Avenue in the East Bluff and Rohmann Avenue in West Peoria,
where he built a family grocery store tradition and became a
pillar in the community; and
WHEREAS, Fred Haddad Sr. was a past member of the Willow
Knolls Country Club and the Creve Coeur Club; and
WHEREAS, Fred Haddad Sr. was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Mary; and his son, Robert (Sue); and
WHEREAS, Fred Haddad Sr. is survived by his children, Fred
Jr. (Sandra) Haddad, Steve Haddad, Carol (Robert) Gardula, and
Patricia (Joshua) Geske; his eight grandchildren; his 10

great-grandchildren; and his sister, Frieda Abdnour;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of Fred J. Haddad, Sr.; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Fred J. Haddad, Sr. as an expression
of our sympathy.
