1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mel Wallace, who passed away on January | ||||||
4 | 28, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mel Wallace was born in the Bronx, New York on | ||||||
6 | February 20, 1931; he served in the United States Army during | ||||||
7 | the Korean War; he graduated from California State University | ||||||
8 | in Los Angeles, where he was student body president; he | ||||||
9 | attended the London School of Economics as a Fulbright Scholar | ||||||
10 | and earned a Master of Social Work at Adelphi University; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Mel Wallace served as Chair of the Criminal | ||||||
12 | Justice Department at McHenry County College for 25 years, | ||||||
13 | working alongside his wife; he was a beloved and respected | ||||||
14 | criminal justice professional and educator; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Mel Wallace served as President of the Illinois | ||||||
16 | Academy of Criminology, Vice-President of the McHenry County | ||||||
17 | Child Advocacy Center Board, and was a member of the Chiefs of | ||||||
18 | Police Associations for McHenry County and Illinois; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Mel Wallace was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
20 | and his brother; and

1 | WHEREAS, Mel Wallace is survived by his wife, Suzanne; his | ||||||
2 | children, Robin (Ze'ev), Max (Morag), Jeremy (Kate), and Hope | ||||||
3 | (Adam); and by six grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Mel Wallace, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
7 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Mel Wallace as an expression of our | ||||||
10 | deepest sympathy.
