| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away May 20, 2010; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Officer Wortham had recently returned from his | ||||||
| 6 | second tour of duty in Iraq while serving with the Wisconsin | ||||||
| 7 | Army National Guard; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was appointed to the Chicago | ||||||
| 9 | Police Department and served faithfully for nearly three years | ||||||
| 10 | and was assigned to the Englewood District; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Officer Wortham previously served with the | ||||||
| 12 | Evergreen Park Police Department; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was a second generation officer | ||||||
| 14 | with the Chicago Police Department, preceded by his father who | ||||||
| 15 | retired at the rank of sergeant; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The Chicago Police Department has retired Officer | ||||||
| 17 | Wortham IV's star, numbered 6181; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was a proud member of the Chicago | ||||||
| 19 | Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Officer Wortham leaves behind his sister and his | ||||||
| 2 | parents; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Officer Wortham dedicated and gave his life to | ||||||
| 4 | protecting and serving the people of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 7 | his family, friends, and Fraternal Order of Police brothers and | ||||||
| 8 | sisters, the passing of Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV; and be it | ||||||
| 9 | further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to the family of Officer Wortham as an expression of | ||||||
| 12 | our sympathy.
