2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Duane R. Badgett of Granite City, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 21, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Duane Badgett was born on August 2, 1927, in Mount | ||||||
6 | Vernon to Wilton Dewey and Bessie Badgett; he served in the | ||||||
7 | U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War; he married | ||||||
8 | Mona "Eileen" Whitsell on December 5, 1944, in Saint Louis, | ||||||
9 | Missouri; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Duane Badgett retired in 1989 from Norfolk and | ||||||
11 | Southern Railroad after many years of dedicated service as a | ||||||
12 | carman; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Duane Badgett was a member of AMVETS Post 204 and | ||||||
14 | the American Legion in Granite City; he was a member of the | ||||||
15 | Transportation Communications International Union since 1943 | ||||||
16 | and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite | ||||||
17 | City; and

18 | WHEREAS, Duane Badgett was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
19 | Mona; his parents; his brother, Wilton "Bud" Badgett; and his | ||||||
20 | sister, Peggy Hall; and

1 | WHEREAS, Duane Badgett is survived by his sons, Bill | ||||||
2 | (Susan) Badgett, Jerry Badgett, Scott (Tana) Badgett, Jeff | ||||||
3 | (Barb) Badgett, and Bradley (Kim) Badgett; his 9 grandchildren; | ||||||
4 | his 7 great-grandchildren; his sister, Geraldine Wilson; and | ||||||
5 | other extended family and friends; therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
8 | Duane Badgett, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
10 | further
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to the family of Duane Badgett as an expression of | ||||||
13 | our deepest sympathy.
