| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Melissa Leigh "Missy" McDermott of | ||||||
| 4 | Berwyn, who passed away on April 4, 2023; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Missy McDermott was born to John Richard "Dick" | ||||||
| 6 | and Marian Neerman McDermott in Springfield on December 3, | ||||||
| 7 | 1964; she graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and the | ||||||
| 8 | University of Illinois at Springfield; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Missy McDermott retired from the State of | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois after 30 years of service on March 31, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Missy McDermott was an avid fan of the Fighting | ||||||
| 12 | Illini sports teams and the Chicago White Sox; she enjoyed | ||||||
| 13 | sports talk radio, 80s classic rock, backyard barbecues, a | ||||||
| 14 | good dive bar, breakfast club, reality TV, long walks on the | ||||||
| 15 | beach, tennis, and the Florida sun in the winter; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Missy McDermott is survived by her longtime | ||||||
| 17 | companion, Michael Joseph "Mike" Ridge; her siblings, John | ||||||
| 18 | Richard (Barb) McDermott Jr., Michael Edward "Muggs" (Denise) | ||||||
| 19 | McDermott, Kevin Neerman McDermott, Martha Louise "Cooky" | ||||||
| 20 | McDermott, Maureen Lynn "Bubby" (Travis) Wayne, and John Peter | ||||||
| 21 | "Pete" McDermott; her several nieces and nephews, Jennifer | ||||||
