SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Th�r�se Ruddy Longley Anlauf of Palos
Verdes Estates, California, who passed away on July 9, 2022;
and
WHEREAS, Th�r�se Anlauf was born to Walter and Annette
Ruddy on May 21, 1926; she graduated from Madonna High School
in Aurora; she studied at the College of St. Teresa in Winona,
Minnesota for two years; she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts
from Loyola Marymount University 40 years later; she first
married Donald Halliwell Longley, and they had six children
before he preceded her in death in 1965; she married Joseph F.
Anlauf Jr., the father of five, in 1968; upon their marriage
and family merger, they settled in River Forest and later
moved to Palos Verdes Estates, California; and
WHEREAS, Th�r�se Anlauf had many interests; she enjoyed
knitting, needlepointing, painting, studying genealogy,
camping, selling real estate, traveling the world, throwing
clay pots, rebuilding a Michigan beach house, and, after
studying Native American weaving, fashioning intricate baskets
with the pine needles she fished out of the pool; and
WHEREAS, Th�r�se Anlauf's journey through life was

primarily about making memories with friends, parents,
siblings, spouses, and especially her children and
grandchildren; she will be remembered for being clever,
creative, kind, beautiful, generous, good-hearted, gutsy, and
ever optimistic; and
WHEREAS, Th�r�se Anlauf was preceded in death by both of
her husbands; and
WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Th�r�se Anlauf was
survived by her daughters, Laura Longley, Sarah (Christopher)
Lauzen, and Martha Longley; her sons, James (Vicki) Longley,
Stephen (Alison Denis) Longley, and Halliwell (Denise)
Longley; her stepdaughters, Christine (Charles) Sabatino,
Celeste Anlauf, Sara Smith, and Julie (A. William) Wade; her
stepson, Joseph (Karen) Anlauf; her 20 grandchildren; her 12
great-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, and
friends, especially Ranelranz Bongayan and Kristine Espina;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Th�r�se Ruddy Longley Anlauf and extend our sincere
condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Th�r�se Anlauf as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
