SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Susan L. Cane of Springfield, who
4passed away on March 8, 2023; and
5 WHEREAS, Susan Cane was born in Springfield on November
613, 1942; she was the daughter of Lee and Pearl (Nation)
7Benanti; she married Raymond Cane in Springfield on June 19,
81971; she earned her Bachelor of Arts from Carthage College;
9and
10 WHEREAS, Susan Cane started her teaching career at
11Riverton Community Unit School District #14; she taught 3rd
12grade at Farmingdale Elementary School before retiring after
1340 years; and
14 WHEREAS, Susan Cane was a member of Grace Lutheran Church
15and Flower City Chapter No. 152, Order of the Eastern Star; she
16had a passion for flowers and enjoyed tending her gardens; she
17loved playing the piano; her biggest joy was spending time
18with her family, especially her grandchildren; and
19 WHEREAS, Susan Cane was preceded in death by her parents
20and her granddaughter, Adysen Lowery; and

1 WHEREAS, Susan Cane is survived by her husband, Raymond;
2her daughter, Heidi (Adam) Lowery; her granddaughter, Adalyn
3Lowery; her brother, Wayne (Sandy) Benanti; and her nephews,
4Trent and Travis Benanti; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Susan L. Cane and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Susan Cane as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
