SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy Marie Stumpe of Alton, who passed
4away on February 12, 2011; and
5 WHEREAS, Dorothy Stumpe was born on November 9, 1931, in
6Bremen; her parents were Henry and Marie (Schnoeker) Wilson;
7she married Roger W. Stumpe on April 11, 1952; and
8 WHEREAS, Dorothy Stumpe graduated from Chester High
9School; and
10 WHEREAS, Dorothy Stumpe was employed as the secretary to
11the Alton Park and Recreation Commission for more than 25
12years, first at the Rock Springs office and then at the Haskell
13Park office; she enjoyed helping Alton families sign up for
14park events and helped enroll thousands of young people on
15Little League and soccer teams; she was particularly proud to
16assist in the development of Moore Park; and
17 WHEREAS, After retiring from the Alton Park and Recreation
18Commission, Dorothy Stumpe traveled the world with her friends
19to numerous places, including Europe, Australia, and Africa;
20she was also an avid gardener and walker; and

1 WHEREAS, Dorothy Stumpe was a member of St. Matthew's
2Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church; and
3 WHEREAS, Dorothy Stumpe was preceded in death by her
4parents and her husband; and
5 WHEREAS, Dorothy Stumpe is survived by her daughter, Karen
6(Scott Bell); her sons, Michael and Joseph (Carrie Rengers);
7her granddaughters, Sarah and Lauren Bell; and her sister, Vera
8(Lee) Bergfeld; therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy Marie Stumpe;
12and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Dorothy Stumpe as an expression of
15our sympathy.
