2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Norman L. Armstrong of Carlinville, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 17, 2009; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, He was born on May 4, 1925 in Sona Bata, Belgian | ||||||
6 | Congo, the son of Bernard W. and Rhoda Broholm Armstrong; he | ||||||
7 | married Florence Waterman on September 24, 1949 in Kalamazoo, | ||||||
8 | Michigan; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, He was a United States Army infantry veteran, | ||||||
10 | serving in World War II; he attended Wright State in Ohio, | ||||||
11 | receiving his master of arts degree in counseling; he received | ||||||
12 | his bachelor of arts degree from Kalamazoo College; and he | ||||||
13 | received a master of arts degree from Andover-Newton College; | ||||||
14 | and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, He was a pastoral counselor in Western Springs, | ||||||
16 | retiring in 1993; he was a member of the Federated Church and | ||||||
17 | Seekers Group at Blackburn College; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Norman Armstrong is survived by his sons and | ||||||
20 | daughter-in-law, Dr. Mark W. and Lynn Armstrong and Richard N. |

1 | Armstrong; his grandsons, Greg (wife, Sarah) MacDonald, Jeff | ||||||
2 | Armstrong, and Dan Armstrong (fiancee, Sara Keaster); and his | ||||||
3 | sister, Joan Bailey; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
6 | his family and friends, the passing of Norman Armstrong; and be | ||||||
7 | it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Norman Armstrong as a symbol of our | ||||||
10 | sincere sympathy.
