| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Ruth Lee Doerr of Bethalto, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on February 16, 2013; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ruth Lee Doerr was born on January 25, 1911, in | ||||||
| 6 | Gibbson Country, Tennessee; her parents were Albert Sidney and | ||||||
| 7 | Lula Mae (Ramsey) Hutchinson; she married William "Hoot" Doerr | ||||||
| 8 | on July 12, 1930, in New Albany, Mississippi; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Ruth Lee Doerr graduated from Vardaman High | ||||||
| 10 | School; she subsequently began working for the Olin Corporation | ||||||
| 11 | as a tool clerk for 35 years until her retirement in 1976; she | ||||||
| 12 | also worked as an assistant for the Bethalto City Clerk from | ||||||
| 13 | 1957 to 1977 with her husband; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Ruth Lee Doerr was the oldest member of the | ||||||
| 15 | Bethalto United Methodist Church, where she has been a member | ||||||
| 16 | since 1931; she was also a Bethalto United Methodist Church | ||||||
| 17 | Historian, taught Sunday school for more than 40 years, sang in | ||||||
| 18 | the choir, and was a member and teacher of the friendship | ||||||
| 19 | class; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Ruth Lee Doerr served as a volunteer at the | ||||||
| 21 | Bethalto Museum; she was a member of the Wood River Area Garden | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Club for 24 years, a charter member of the Women's Club of | ||||||
| 2 | Bethalto, and a board member of the Bethalto Spirit; she was | ||||||
| 3 | also a member of the community choir of Bethalto for 10 years | ||||||
| 4 | and volunteered at the Alton Crisis Center for more than 30 | ||||||
| 5 | years; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ruth Lee Doerr was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 7 | husband; her parents; her sisters, Rubye Hickman, Elizabeth | ||||||
| 8 | Hill, Emma Cargill, and Maimie Burleson; and her brother, | ||||||
| 9 | Eligah Hutchison; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Ruth Lee Doerr is survived by her son and | ||||||
| 11 | daughter-in-law, Gary and Diane Doerr; her grandchildren, | ||||||
| 12 | Kristine (Matt) Cleland, Victoria (Josh) Peck, Nicholas | ||||||
| 13 | (Francesca) Doerr, and Stephen Doerr; and her | ||||||
| 14 | great-grandchildren, Miranda, Avery, Miles, Penny, Max, Jake, | ||||||
| 15 | and another great-grandchild on the way; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 18 | her family and friends, the passing of Ruth Lee Doerr; and be | ||||||
| 19 | it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Ruth Lee Doerr as an expression of | ||||||
| 22 | our sympathy.
