| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Murray Ross Conzelman of Lake Forest, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 6, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Murray Conzelman was born in Waukegan on November | ||||||
6 | 2, 1929 to Murray Wilson and Jesse Edwards Conzelman; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Waukegan High School, Lake Forest College, and | ||||||
8 | the Northwestern University School of Law; he married Barbara | ||||||
9 | Vasey in 1955; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Murray Conzelman started practicing law in 1953; | ||||||
11 | he was elected Alderman of the 7th Ward for the City of | ||||||
12 | Waukegan at the age of 23 and is the youngest person to have | ||||||
13 | ever been elected to that position; he was appointed by the | ||||||
14 | Illinois Supreme Court to its Rules Committee and served in | ||||||
15 | that capacity for many years; he was a founding member of the | ||||||
16 | Jefferson Inn, an American Inn of Court; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Murray Conzelman was President of the Waukegan | ||||||
18 | Jaycees, which awarded him its Distinguished Service Award and | ||||||
19 | named him Man of the Year; he was President of the Lake County | ||||||
20 | Bar Association in 1973 and the inaugural recipient of its | ||||||
21 | President's Award in 1996; he served on boards for the Lake | ||||||
22 | County Urban League, Barwell Homes, the Illinois St. Andrews |

1 | Society, and Barat College; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Murray Conzelman was an avid St. Louis Cardinals | ||||||
3 | fan and attended Cardinals' camp 5 times; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Murray Conzelman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | parents; his brother, John W. Conzelman, II; and his first | ||||||
6 | wife, Barbara; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Murray Conzelman is survived by his wife, Gwen; | ||||||
8 | his daughters, Anne (Craig) Linn, and their children, Nathan | ||||||
9 | (Katrina Stidham), Alex, Mollie, and Jack Linn; Lesley (Ellen | ||||||
10 | Schaller) Conzelman; and Carrie Conzelman; his step-children, | ||||||
11 | Lori (Kent) Baker, and their children, Jesica (Matt) Jones, | ||||||
12 | Alissa (John) McNicholas, Mary Gwen, and Madison Baker; Jim | ||||||
13 | (Maxwell) Gregory, and their children, Royce, Meredith, and | ||||||
14 | Mallory Gregory; his 7 great-grandchildren; and his brother, | ||||||
15 | James Conzelman, and his family; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Murray Ross Conzelman, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
19 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
