| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Joan Marie Garrow Fitzgerald of Godfrey, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on February 13, 2011; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, She was born in Chicago on February 8, 1931, the | ||||||
| 6 | daughter of Robert G. and Josephine Cole Garrow; she graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from St. Barnabas Grade School, the Academy of Our Lady at | ||||||
| 8 | Longwood, and Mundelein Catholic Girls College of Chicago with | ||||||
| 9 | a Bachelor of Science degree; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, She taught school in the Chicago Public School | ||||||
| 11 | System prior to her marriage; she was also a substitute teacher | ||||||
| 12 | at St. Patrick's and Sts. Peter and Paul grade schools in | ||||||
| 13 | Alton; she was a member of St. Patrick's Church of Alton for | ||||||
| 14 | many years and then a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in | ||||||
| 15 | Alton; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, She loved her life and roles of wife, mother, | ||||||
| 17 | grandmother, friend, teacher, homemaker, cook, coach, golfer, | ||||||
| 18 | gardener, shopper, and confidant, among others; she also loved | ||||||
| 19 | Chicago, Notre Dame, and Lake Ozark; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, On May 7, 1955, she entered into the Sacrament of | ||||||
| 21 | Matrimony with Emmett Fitzgerald at Queen of Martyrs Catholic | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Church in Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Her brother, William F. Garrow, preceded her in | ||||||
| 3 | death; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Joan Marie Garrow Fitzgerald is survived by her | ||||||
| 5 | husband; her children, Timothy and his wife, Kelly, Michael and | ||||||
| 6 | his wife, Susan, Peter and his wife, Michelle, Daniel and his | ||||||
| 7 | wife, Stephanie, Kathleen, and Maura and her husband, John | ||||||
| 8 | Sedlack; her 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Michael S., | ||||||
| 9 | David, Molly, Patrick, Joseph, Maria, and Jane Fitzgerald, and | ||||||
| 10 | John E. Sedlack; and her two great-grandchildren, Michael J. | ||||||
| 11 | and Katie Fitzgerald; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 14 | her family and friends, the passing of Joan Marie Garrow | ||||||
| 15 | Fitzgerald; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Joan Marie Garrow Fitzgerald as a | ||||||
| 18 | symbol of our sincere sympathy.
