2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Eugene R. Hill of Rock Island, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on January 7, 2017 at the age of 85; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Eugene Hill was born in Moline to Roy and Helen | ||||||
6 | (Cook) Hill on April 4, 1931; he married Marilyn Driscoll in | ||||||
7 | Gulfport, Mississippi on April 4, 1931; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Eugene Hill was a Private in the United States Air | ||||||
9 | Force during the Korean Conflict where he served as a radio | ||||||
10 | operator; he retired in 1993 as an electric systems supervisor | ||||||
11 | at MidAmerican Energy, after 40 years of service; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Eugene Hill worked as a marshal at Highland | ||||||
13 | Springs Golf Course after his retirement; he was a member of | ||||||
14 | the Independent Order of Vikings Thor Lodge No. 9 in Moline; he | ||||||
15 | was a World War II history buff and an avid birdwatcher with | ||||||
16 | several bird feeders; he was proud of his achievements as a | ||||||
17 | high school baseball player; he enjoyed golfing, reading, | ||||||
18 | woodworking, spending time with his daughter and | ||||||
19 | granddaughter, and his many lifelong friends from Moline High | ||||||
20 | School; and

21 | WHEREAS, Eugene Hill was preceded in death by his parents; |

1 | his wife, Marilyn; his son, Robin, and his sister, Shirley | ||||||
2 | White; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Eugene Hill is survived by his daughter, Jamie | ||||||
4 | Hill and her husband Lee Blackmon; his granddaughter, Samantha | ||||||
5 | Tonn; his step-granddaughter, Lizzy (Sam) Luoma, and | ||||||
6 | step-great-grandson Charlie; his sister, Marilyn Knittle; his | ||||||
7 | sister-in-law, Barbara (Joe) Vinzant; and many nieces and | ||||||
8 | nephews; therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
11 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Eugene R. Hill, and | ||||||
12 | extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all | ||||||
13 | who knew and loved him; and be it further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Eugene Hill as an expression of our | ||||||
16 | deepest sympathy.
