| 1 | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, This year marks the 250th Anniversary of the | ||||||
| 3 | founding of the United States Marine Corps; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The phrase "Semper Fidelis" is Latin for "always | ||||||
| 5 | faithful" and is the motto of the United States Marine Corps; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, This promise means that Marines are always | ||||||
| 8 | faithful to those on their left and right, from the fellow | ||||||
| 9 | Marines they fight alongside to those in their communities for | ||||||
| 10 | whom they fight; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF | ||||||
| 13 | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the | ||||||
| 14 | portion of Interstate Route 80 of the National System of | ||||||
| 15 | Interstate and Defense Highways within the State of Illinois, | ||||||
| 16 | from mile marker 26 to mile marker 51, as the "U.S. Marine | ||||||
| 17 | Corps Highway Semper Fidelis"; and be it further

| 18 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
| 19 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | ||||||
| 20 | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs | ||||||
| 21 | giving notice of the name "U.S. Marine Corps Highway Semper | ||||||
