| 1 | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Illinois State Representative Donald L. Moffitt | ||||||
| 3 | has devoted his professional life to public service and has | ||||||
| 4 | strived to serve the growing and changing needs of his | ||||||
| 5 | district, including the City of Galesburg; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Donald L. Moffitt has continually adapted his | ||||||
| 7 | legislative agenda to meet the always-evolving needs of his | ||||||
| 8 | constituents since his election to the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 9 | Representatives in 1993 and since first becoming an elected | ||||||
| 10 | official in 1971; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Representative Moffitt has diligently served the | ||||||
| 12 | State of Illinois on various committees, including, but not | ||||||
| 13 | limited to, the Aging, Agriculture and Conservation, Counties | ||||||
| 14 | and Townships, Local Government, Commerce and Business | ||||||
| 15 | Development, Elementary and Secondary Education, | ||||||
| 16 | Transportation, and Veterans Affairs Committees; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Representative Moffitt continuously advocates in | ||||||
| 18 | support of public safety, emergency management, and fire | ||||||
| 19 | protection on behalf of the people of the State of Illinois; | ||||||
| 20 | and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Representative Moffitt uses his legislative | ||||||

| 1 | experience and ability to consistently work hard to improve | ||||||
| 2 | public education, promote the expansion of agricultural | ||||||
| 3 | markets, and fund highway projects; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Representative Moffitt helped make possible the | ||||||
| 5 | funding for the construction of the West Main Street Overpass | ||||||
| 6 | in the City of Galesburg, which is expected to ease traffic and | ||||||
| 7 | modernize infrastructure; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Galesburg City Council unanimously made the | ||||||
| 9 | decision to name the West Main Street Overpass after | ||||||
| 10 | Representative Donald L. Moffitt; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES | ||||||
| 13 | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the West Main Street | ||||||
| 14 | Overpass in the City of Galesburg as the "Donald L. Moffitt | ||||||
| 15 | Overpass" in honor of our friend and colleague, Illinois State | ||||||
| 16 | Representative Donald Moffitt; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
| 18 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | ||||||
| 19 | State regulations, plaques or signs giving notice of the name; | ||||||
| 20 | and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
