Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Procurement Code. Provides that the Department of Central Management Services, in consultation with the Chief Procurement Officer, shall implement and develop a program to establish a State prescription generic drug label for the purpose of increasing competition in the generic drug market and lowering generic drug prices for all purchasers. Provides that the Department shall contract with one or more generic drug manufacturers to manufacture certain generic drugs on behalf of the State and participating entities. Provides for the adoption of rules.

2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Procurement Code is amended by
5adding Section 25-210 as follows:

7 Sec. 25-210. Generic prescription drug contracting. The
8Department of Central Management Services, in consultation
9with the Chief Procurement Officer, shall implement and develop
10a program to establish a State prescription generic drug label
11for the purpose of increasing competition in the generic drug
12market and lowering generic drug prices for all purchasers. The
13Department shall contract with one or more generic drug
14manufacturers to manufacture certain generic drugs on behalf of
15the State and participating entities. The Department shall
16adopt rules necessary to implement and administer the program
17created under this Section.
