Bill Title: Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act, the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act, and the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that every hospital, including the University of Illinois Hospital, and every ambulatory surgical treatment center must employ a surgical technologist or contract for the services of a surgical technologist. Sets forth educational and certification requirements for such surgical technologists. Provides for a waiver of the requirement to employ or contract for the services of a surgical technologist under certain conditions. States that these provisions do not prohibit a facility from employing or contracting for the services of a surgical technologist who meets certain other criteria. Effective January 1, 2014.

AN ACT concerning regulation.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Regulatory Sunset Act is amended by changing
Section 4.23 as follows:
(5 ILCS 80/4.23)
Sec. 4.23. Acts and Sections repealed on January 1, 2013
and December 31, 2013.
(a) The following Acts and Sections of Acts are repealed on
January 1, 2013:
The Dietetic and Nutrition Services Practice Act.
Section 2.5 of the Illinois Plumbing License Law.
(b) The following Acts and Sections are repealed on
December 31, 2013:
The Medical Practice Act of 1987.

Section 10. The Regulatory Sunset Act is amended by
repealing Section 4.22.
