Provides that the $15 issuance fee and $2 of the renewal fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.

625 ILCS 5/3-624.5 new

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides for the issuance of Retired Air Force license plates. 1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 3-624.5 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/3-624.5 new)
7 Sec. 3-624.5. Retired Air Force plates.
8 (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in
9 the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may issue to
10 retired members of the United States Air Force who reside in
11 Illinois, special registration plates designated as Retired
12 Air Force plates. The special plates issued under this Section
13 shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first
14 division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
15 division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued
16 under this Section shall expire according to the staggered
17 multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this
18 Code.
19 (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be
20 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The
21 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be
22 issued as vanity plates or personalized in accordance with
23 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to

1 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of
2 Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall, in his or her
3 discretion, approve and prescribe stickers or decals as
4 provided under Section 3-412.
5 (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a
6 $15 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate
7 registration fee. This additional fee shall be deposited into
8 the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used
9 by the Secretary to help defray the administrative processing
10 costs.
11 For each registration renewal period, a $2 fee, in addition
12 to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged. This
13 additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State
14 Special License Plate Fund.
